If you haven't visited the library for a while, you'll see that things in the Teen Room have changed lately. We've installed a sound dome, which we plan to use for music programs. We've also moved the YA audiobooks into the teen room, and interfiled Fantasy and SF with the other fiction. Plus, there's a New Book display on the window facing the brook, and a Readalike display on the opposite wall. We think this will make it easier for everyone to find what they want -- let us know what you think.

New Books, Movies, and Programs!

Hi, everyone!

Halloween is over, but not to worry! We're gearing up for more excitement in the library! We've got lots of great new books and videos, and we'll soon be starting some new programs you asked for.

YA FOR EVERYONE will be meeting on Saturday, 11/13 at 11:00 AM. This time, we'll be discussing James Dashner's The Maze Runner. Here's what some people thought of this book.
I loved the Maze Runner. It was thrilling, action packed, exciting and full of surprises. 12 year old reader.
I really like this book alot of people compare it to The Hunger Games and it kind of is. it is written very well and it draws you in unknowingly until your done. i reccomend it 16 year old reader.

This book is a high class thriller that kept me at the edge of my seat. Filled with post apocalyptic humor it has a unique story to it. 13 year old reader.

Did you love this book? Did you hate it? Want to read it? Come check it out, and talk about it with your friends!

NATIONAL GAMING DAY is also on Saturday the 13th, and we'll be celebrating with another "Unplug and Play" session in the library, from 1:00 to 3:00 PM. It's free and open to everybody, and you can come play our games or bring your own.

NEW! EXPRESS DVDS! The library is starting a special new movie collection! You'll be able to check out some of the hottest new titles, starting next week! The DVDs in this collection will have a circulation period of 3 days, and you won't be able to renew them. (But you'll still be able to take out our regular DVDs for a week). Here are a few of the titles that are being added to the express collection. And there are more, both in this new collection and in our other collections, including children's, family and adult. You can always search our catalog to find out what's in, and to reserve books, movies and music.

NEW BOOKS

We're getting lots of great new titles this month, including:

We get new books every day, and we have great old ones, too, but they're not always on the shelf -- so, if you don't see what you want to read, please ask us, and we'll try to get it for you! Or, you can search our catalog and put your favorite books on hold.

We will be adding more programs soon, as well as more books, movies, and music, so watch this space, and definitely let us know what you think!

Hi! Here's the News from the Teen Room for October!

First, a huge THANK YOU to all our teen volunteers! You guys are awesome, and we really appreciate what you're doing for the library!

We can always use more volunteers, to help us keep the library in order, to review books, to help with programs for younger kids, to help and to help us come up with the best programs for YOU! Please get in touch with us, if you're interested.

And now, here's what's happening in the library this month.

1. YA For Everyone! If you like to talk about books, this group is for you! We'll be meeting on the second Saturday of most months at 11:00 AM, and our first session will be this Saturday, October 16th. We'll be discussing Feed, by M.T. Anderson.
The story is set in a future where everyone has TV and the Internet implanted directly into their brains when they are babies.  Here's what some teens who read the book thought:

  1. Loved the book. Teens who don't like it either relate too much or too little to the subject matter.  (16 Year Old reader)
  2. Feed has created an awe-inspiring message about the problems with product consumerism, technology and mass media control. It gives a haunting image of a near-future where Americans are slowly becoming nothing more than computers with skin. I'm 13 and believe it's perfect book for mature young adults. (13 Year Old reader)
  3. i loved feed everytime i get on the computer and it messes up i wonder what it would be like to have the computer mess up your brain and in stead of wonderingwhat to do know that your bored youd be wondering how long you had to live (14 Year Old reader)
Some teens love it, and some don't -- what do YOU think? Come to the discussion, there's a lot to talk about!

2. UNPLUG & PLAY. Do you love board games? If so, come play at the monthly session! We'll have different games for you to choose from, or you can even bring your own. Our session this month is on Thursday, October 21 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM

3. THE PLANETS: An HD Odyssey We'll be screening one of the year's coolest movies in the Community Room! If you like amazing images (from NASA) set to interesting music, you should definitely come! Fun for the rest of the family, too, if you want to bring them ;-D The show starts at 2:00 PM on Saturday, October 23rd.

3. HALLOWEEN PARTY! Bring your little sibs or cousins to our annual costume party! This year, it's at 3:30 PM on Friday, October 29th. (PS You can earn Community Service Credits for helping us with the party).

And Here's What's Coming Up Later This Year!

You asked -- we listened! We'll be starting a song-writing workshop in the library! We'll have to add and rearrange a couple of things in the teen room first -- we'll keep you posted.

Also, we'll be having more concerts, with many different kinds of music.
Next month, we'll be doing an opera in the library, with teens in the leading roles!
And we'll also have more rock concerts -- wizard rock, local bands, etc.
Let us know what YOU would like to see in the library!
And don't forget, we have AMAZING books, DVDs, CDs, audiobooks, and online resources! And you can access us 24/7! Just visit us here, or at the Library Home Page.

Enjoy!
